Strengths & Weaknesses | K’tala has been forged by tragedy and war. She is proficient in personal and ship’s weapons. Has studied and used tactics. She has shown fortitude and bravery. She is an instrument of war while still retaining her empathy. K’tala is still haunted by demons and suffers bouts of depression. Sometimes she self medicates with alcohol. She can overthink a problem. She can also be too honest and speak out when more tact would be appropriate. |
|
Ambitions | K’tala joined Starfleet to escape civilization. To her, there is meaning in struggle. She is trying both to forget herself and find herself. | |
Hobbies & Interests | K’tala values her alone time. She enjoys drifting away in reading, meditation, listening to music (her interest is wide), or playing the cello. |
Personal History | Born to a prostitute in the slums of the First City on Qo’nos, K’tala never knew her father. When she was eight, a merchant vessel fell from orbit into K’tala’s neighborhood. Hundreds were killed, including K’tala’s mother. In an act of charity, the Guardians took several orphans to raise and educate. K’tala was one of the orphans chosen. The monks found K’tala to be bright. Besides the typically martial Klingon upbringing, she was trained in religion as well as science. Besides Klingon, she mastered Federation as well as the Roman language. Culture was taught as well to give context to language. She was also introduced to music, which K’tala fell in love with. K’tala was preparing for a career as an educator. The order had schools in poor and rural ares. Then, with regularity in Klingon society, war broke out. First it was with the Cardassians, then the Federation joined. The war was brief but a larger war soon broke out. Again, with the Cardassians but now they were allied to the Dominion. The Empire suffered many casualties. More warriors were needed. K’tala soon found herself in the KDF. K’tala wanted to join Imperial Intelligence. As a member of the Guardians, the KDF did not find her politically reliable. Lacking a large body of educated officers, the KDF assigned her as an officer to a marine unit. While academically educated, she was socially awkward. She did quickly learn to be a good leader. During the war, K’tala made a name for herself as a good officer. She was able to grasp tactics and skills. Her bravery was proven by the several injuries she suffered while leading her warriors. She made friends among some of the command staff, as well as enemies. After the war, K’tala tried to return to the order. She found herself unable to conform to the order’s way of life. She tried to return to the KDF. Leadership of the Empire had changed and many former officers, including K’tala, were considered undesirable. With no future in the Empire, K’tala migrated to the Federation. |
