Specifications - USS Traveller
Summary
Following the USS Travellers eventful journey through the outer reaches of Messier 4, and its return to Canopus Station, she has undergone a significant refit and refurbishment program. Changes to her Command & Control infrastructure, her weapons systems, and even her armour and shielding system, make the Traveller one of a kind.
So much so that she is no longer a Ronin class heavy cruiser. Starfleet's Advanced Starship Design Bureau has rechristened her the first member of the Wayfarer class of battlecruisers. It will be a test upon her to prove to Starfleet that this is a wise choice.

Weapons & Defensive Systems
| Shields | Buckler System Ablative Shield Matrix. Instead of a cohesive bubble of radiative force surrounding the ship, the Buckler system uses multiple smaller generators throughout the vessel to generate a scale armour approach to starship protection. This allows the shield to be redistributed in any number of configiration to provide protection from any angle. In an extreme example, the shields can be stripped from all sides of the vessel, and placed into a tight wedge forward of the brow to make a nearly impenetrable barrier, but at the expense of exposing the rest of the vessel to naked space. |
