Sixty times in as many seconds, the secondary comm's buffer attached to frame 34 bulkhead D attempted to sync with the United Federation Of Planets subspace network. Since it's activation nearly sixty thousand seconds ago when the main computer had gone offline, it had been attempting to follow its programming instructions.
Download and sync all comm's and sensor buffers, as well as the mission logs. It even synced the subset of files it was programmed not to look at, the files that did not exist and were not updated periodically by a morgue attendant. Those it backed up in triplicate whilst still not looking at them.
It then tried to connect to the UFP-SN and upload the files. As part of the ships disaster protocol, it was hard-wired to perform this action in the event of the main computer failure to ensure something survived. It was just a script, a few thousand lines of code buried in a single isolinear chipset. It had no idea how far away from home it was, nor of the sudden rush of flying through a space that had no dimensions.
It merely reached out...and out...and out. Sixty times in as many seconds.
